Class 2 of the COLLECTIVE HEALING PRACTICES FOR TRAUMA, ACTIVISM AND INCLUSION Series

Saturday | September 13, 2025 | 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern
Embodied Activism: A Trauma Sensitive Approach to Healing Communities
This workshop is the second of a three-part workshop series focusing on collective healing. This course will focus on trauma-sensitive activism. The third and final course focuses on the creation of a communal culture that fosters inclusivity and honors diversity.

In this class, we will:

  • Investigate the internalization of systemic oppression and explore how it manifests within individuals and influences collective dynamics;
  • Examine personal conditioning and biases to understand how they contribute to and perpetuate systems of oppression.;
  • Develop a felt-sense awareness of how systemic oppression impacts the body and nervous system, individually and collectively;
  • Cultivate skills for nonjudgmental awareness and self-reflection to support personal growth and connection in professional practice;
  • Identify strategies for fostering trust, connection, and safety in interactions within ZB and community settings;
  • Integrate insights into professional touch therapy practices to contribute to healing and meaningful transformation at both individual and collective levels.

Mary Murphy and Misty Rhoads recommend attending this class live to get the most out of the group experience. What we can learn, and experience is greatly amplified by doing this together in our collective container of care for each other and ourselves. However, except for the breakout sessions, it will be available as a recording only for those who register in advance of the class or for the full series. In the breakout sessions, we will ask participants to share only their personal experiences rather than discuss others' experiences to maintain and respect the privacy of all involved.

Workshop Series Details:
These are experiential workshops rather than technique-oriented, and they are an opportunity to increase our connection with one another and our interconnection with all we work and serve in the wider world. These workshops build on one another and will be most useful if all three workshops are taken for the best experience.
