COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Help clients find balance and ease while releasing pain and stress with deep, yet gentle touch to the bones. A typical Zero Balancing session is both profoundly relaxing and energizing, lasts under an hour and is offered through clothing. ZB can be readily added to other types of therapy to ground, integrate and align the whole person.

Zero Balancing I is the first half of the 50-hour Core Zero Balancing program and the first course of the Zero Balancing curriculum. ZB I introduces you to the history, principles, theory, and technique and touch skills of the art and science of Zero Balancing. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to engage the whole person—structure and energy—through the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments and soft tissue. You will also practice a mindful approach to touch called Interface that creates clear, respectful boundaries between you and your client, fostering safety, trust and support. You will be able to receive ZB touch from classmates and the instructors and experience the benefits of ZB for yourself. By day 4 you will be able to give a Zero Balancing session following a basic protocol that aligns and relaxes the entire body.

Amanda and Ben will deliver clear presentations and demonstrations of Zero Balancing evaluations and treatment techniques. Class time will provide plenty of hands-on attention from instructors and assistants. Your tuition includes a detailed study guide to inform your ongoing practice.

You will learn:

  • The theory and principles of Zero Balancing bodymind therapy
  • To distinguish body structure and body energy through touch: To assess and balance the body feeling for tissue tensions and energy movement
  • The skill of using energy as a working tool
  • Interface Touch to work with clear, consistent boundaries
  • The structural and energetic anatomy of the skeleton
  • The theory and application of Zero Balancing techniques called fulcrums
  • How to give a 30-minute ZB session that addresses the whole body
  • How to take a person into expanded states of consciousness similar to meditation – where more change is possible
  • To integrate ZB into other healing arts modalities

What Participants say about ZB I:

“ZB is an immediate addition to my practice. I noticed on day 4 of ZB I how good my body was feeling in that moment. Help to myself and my practice has arrived.” Catherine Perman-Andrade, LMBT, CMLDT
*
"Thank you for four amazing days of learning—perhaps for the first time in my life—“the easy way.”...as unfolding awareness, discovery of subtle and meaningful truths that lay waiting to be known and engaged consciously." Christine G. LAc
*
“ZB I was well-paced, informative, excellent!!! Amanda is very clear, very patient, leaves lots of space for people to process, and is an excellent instructor.” --Martha Colby, LMT
*
“Zero Balancing I was enlightening. Having worked with soft tissue for 13 years, ZB offers a new perspective. Bone, which we regard as hard and unable to work with, plays such a vital role in the balance of the body.” Jean M., LMT
*
“I loved the benefit of the pause. Rest and non-action are often not viewed as treatment. This really highlighted the importance of a client’s processing and work that occurs during that time.” Kristin Keenan, PT

About the Instructors

Amanda King had her first Zero Balancing session in 2002, and bones humming, wanted to learn more. Over the next three years, she took every Zero Balancing class she could, and changed her career from freelance writer to massage therapist. “ZB gave me back to myself: it opened me up in ways I never expected.” Certified in ZB in 2006, Amanda studied with ZB founder Dr. Fritz Smith and has been teaching this work since 2012. She practices in Salem, MA where she teaches ZB classes and offers treatments for pain, injury, trauma and personal growth and transformation. She loves teaching ZB and is excited to share this life-changing work with you. Contact Amanda at www.clearbodymind.massagetherapy.com

Ben Fleisher discovered Zero Balancing around 2005, when searching for relief from chronic neck and shoulder pain, stemming from childhood car accidents and exacerbated by his early career in massage therapy. Astounded by the results from a short ZB, he immediately pursued training and now, 18 years (and close to 10,000 sessions) later, has been practicing the method regularly ever since.

Trained as a massage therapist and acupuncturist, as well as trained in Functional Medicine by the Kresser Institute, Ben maintains a busy practice at Woodstock Healing Arts, the center he owns and runs in Woodstock. He recently completed the Zero Balancing Teacher Training under the mentorship of Fritz Smith, Jim McCormick, Michael Oruch, Amanda King and Mary Murphy. He is thrilled to be sharing the magic of ZB with like-minded professionals. Contact Ben at woodstockhealingarts.com
