Registration Requirements

The coronavirus pandemic has changed all of our lives in so many ways. Zero Balancing classes are no exception. COVID-19 has impacted the manner in which we are able to offer in-person ZB classes and has provided new challenges in how we safeguard the health of our students, our classes and our faculty.

In order to register for this class, you will need to have read and agreed to the Covid In Class Protocols, Guidelines and Waiver.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Form & Fulcrums I utilizes Chinese movement principles to help find optimal positioning while performing Zero Balancing. Michael Oruch developed this class to help you give Zero Balancing sessions more easily and with much less effort through improvement in body mechanics. You will learn to identify the when, where and why of difficulties and how to address them.

We will use simple Qigong-based ZB exercises to facilitate more body awareness and to thoroughly review each fulcrum of the protocol incorporating these concepts. You will also learn many new and extremely useful fulcrums while covering topics such as blue line, donkey, rhythm, positioning, transitions, movement, and, of course, engagement.

The working paradigm here is: “We are only able to engage our clients to the degree in which we ourselves are engaged." The common misconception is that more structure is needed when in fact it is more engagement. When we are engaged and in proper alignment, utilizing bone energy, knowing the landmarks and the protocol, the ZB session is much easier, more effective and magical.

You will learn:

  • Qigong theory to help your ZB sessions
  • Partner exercises exploring energy/structure, blue line, engagement and more, to heighten sensitivity
  • Movement exercises to facilitate body awareness
  • To find an optimal body position for each protocol evaluation and fulcrum
  • To deconstruct and reconstruct each protocol fulcrum in clear stages
  • New and useful fulcrums
  • To hone the skill of high level attention with a quiet mind
  • The principles and skills for doing a 15-minute ZB session

What Participants say about Form and Fulcrums I:

“Form & Fulcrums with Michael Oruch is a class every Zero Balancing student and practitioner should take. Whether you have just done Core ZB or are a certified Zero Balancer of many years, this class will add ease to every single fulcrum you do. Michael Oruch has taken the pains to distill years of Qigong and Tai Chi practice, years of assisting Dr. Fritz Smith, and years of experience as an artist, craftsman, and spiritual seeker into this one workshop. Take Form and Fulcrums by all means!”  -David Lauterstein, ZB Faculty and Co-Founder of  The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CLASS:
We are delighted you’ll be joining us for ZB classes at Prairiewood’s this year.
For class questions, contact Michael Oruch.
For lodging/meal questions, contact Morgan Rivers (contact details below)
FYI, Prairiewoods is in what they call “Phase 3” of opening up after the pandemic.
You can read more about that here:  https://prairiewoods.org/covid-19/
If you haven’t been to Prairiewoods before, see the description at the bottom of this newsletter and check out their website:  www.prairiewoods.org
This is a “residential” class, in that participants can stay on site and have meals if they wish.  Commuters are also welcome, and, some choose to stay in nearby hotels.
This year, I (Morgan) am gathering the reservations and payments for lodging and meals ahead of time.
Lodging:
There are a limited # of rooms in the guest house available to us, which will be reserved on a first-come-first served basis, so … if you wish to stay at Prairiewoods, let me know asap.
Each room has 2 twin beds and shares a bathroom with the adjoining room.
They are 55/night.
If you wish to double up, it’s tight quarters, but would only be 40/person/night.
You need to communicate the following:
  • Which nights you want to stay
  • Whether you want a single room or, wish to have a roommate  (You can specify, or, I will assign randomly if there are others with the same wish)
  • Whether you are vaccinated
    •  Note:  Prairiewoods’ rules under Phase 3 specify that unvaccinated people cannot share a bathroom.  This means, we would only be able to use one of the rooms and have to leave the other empty.  So, these rooms will be reserved as available.   It will depend upon how many reservations we end up with ~ we will know in September.
Meals:
Meals are served in the training facility where the classes are held
  • Breakfast:  $7
  • Lunch:  $9
  • Dinner: $9
I need to know:
  • Which meals you want to reserve
    • Note*  Prairiewoods asks that you reserve only meals you actually plan to eat.   They are very eco-conscious and really dislike wasting food.
  • Dietary needs ~ they do their best to accommodate
  • Note* Saturday lunch will most likely be a community-building time, so I would recommend reserving that one for sure if you want to be a part of it.
When I get your info, I’ll send you your total.
I will need a check made out and sent by September 15th to:
Morgan Rivers
1340 NW 105th Pl
Clive, IA 50325

Once we get this structure in place, we can all sink into the energy of the classes and the unique space of learning and high regard that ZB classes offer.

Let me know if you have further questions.
Best Regards,
)(
